French luxury jewellery designer Caroline Gaspard, CEO of Akillis is not your typical jewellery designer. She is an avant garde designer whose creations appeared in Russia recently. Notable among her new range is the Kalashnikov-inspired series of pendants. Fashioned in white, yellow and pink gold with matching chains, but also in titanium, the range is specifically designed to have a deep impact.
The name of the line is “AK” and stands for Kalashnikov Automatic Rifle, 1947 model, or in Russian jargon, simply Kalash. The idea for this line obviously comes from Russia were designer Caroline Gaspard has spent many years and were she learnt to shoot with real bullets for the first time. She draws her inspiration from heroic epics, spy and gangster films, blending fiction with reality to produce a range of jewellery inspired by Kalash bullets.
