As the Asian market for luxury modern and vintage timepieces continues to expand at a rapid pace, we have decided to increase our presence there and create a new position to administer all business and expansion throughout the region. Mr. Tearle joins our already successful and talented team of experts in Asia and will be based in Hong Kong. In addition to his new position, he will continue to be in charge of the New York Watch Department.
Mr. Tearle started his career at the tender age of 16 at Somlo Antiques, a prestigious London based vintage watch store. In 2004, he became head of the clock and watch department at Bonhams, Knightsbridge and a year later moved to California to establish a watch department for Bonhams & Butterfields auction house in the United States. Charles joined Antiquorum as Director and Watch Expert based in California in 2008 and moved to the head office in New York in 2009. Mr. Tearle can be seen on the American public television series “The Antiques Road Show” and writes a quarterly column for The Elite Traveler Magazine. He specializes in wristwatches from the 1920’s to the 1970’s, with a particular interest in Patek Philippe, Rolex sport watches and Cartier.
“Mr. Tearle, with over 20 years of experience and understanding of the global horological market, brings with him a wealth of knowledge to his new position as head of our Asian Division. With Mr. Tearle’s guidance, we look forward to greatly expanding our presence and better serving our existing customers throughout Asia,” said Evan Zimmermann, President & CEO, Antiquorum Auctioneers. |
