Carl F. Bucherer opens a new boutique in Tokyo’s prestigious Ginza district, marking a further investment in the Japanese market for the independent Lucerne-based watch Manufacture. Within five years the watch Manufacture Bucherer Montres S.A., with its Carl F. Bucherer brand, has positioned itself outstandingly in the Japanese market. The celebration of the opening of the new store in Tokyo’s Ginza district on 21 October 2011 therefore came as no surprise.
In the luxurious shopping district of Ginza, Tokyo presents itself as a sophisticated metropolis with a special Far-Eastern charm. Here, skyscrapers are to be found side by side with traditional tea houses, and Japanese culture meets cosmopolitan flair. In this richly contrasting atmosphere, it is not only traditional stores that have established themselves over the years. This vibrant district has now transformed itself into Asia’s most exclusive fashion center, attracting not only the finest department stores but also, in particular, high quality international fashion and luxury goods brands.
Optimal Location for Boutique
As of October 2011, an impressive Carl F. Bucherer boutique has become a member of this high-class team in Tokyo’s Ginza district. This is an accolade for the Swiss Manufacture brand, which with its new outlet has gained a more prominent presence in the Japanese market and in the Asian markets generally. With this new asset on the central shopping mile, Chuo-dōri, Carl F. Bucherer has not only succeeded in opening a boutique in the best location in Ginza. As far as acceptance of the Carl F. Bucherer brand in the Japanese region is concerned, this achievement speaks volumes. Although the brand was only introduced in Japan five years ago, demand for these top-quality timepieces “made in Switzerland” is huge.
888: Symbol of Success
Carl F. Bucherer’s choice of the 888 Building as its location in Ginza was deliberate. Throughout history, the number “eight” has always been accorded special significance in many cultures. As a synonym for perfection and a symbol of creativity, it gives rise to associations of success and wealth. These are qualities that are closely linked with the Carl F. Bucherer brand, which presents its new sales space on two floors at this inspirational location.
Purist design, elegant furnishings. As you enter the store, the starring part is played by the two elaborate door handles, designed to reflect the characteristic peripherally positioned oscillating weight of the Manufacture movements produced by Carl F. Bucherer. On the ground floor is the boutique itself, with its 95 m2 “feel at home” area. Natural materials such as the dark red Dibétou wood and the cool, untreated quartzite, simple shapes, and elegant white furniture make up the store’s modern and inviting design. In the discreet atmosphere of the sales area you are free to select your favorite piece from the Carl F. Bucherer collection at your leisure. One floor above the sales area is the exclusive 192 m2 VIP area, created to the same design, and located next to the spacious office premises of Bucherer Japan Ltd.
With this concept, created with beguiling simplicity and purist elegance, Carl F. Bucherer not only offers visitors to the boutique a sophisticated shopping experience, but also allows them to step into an inviting oasis in the middle of the big-city “jungle”. Entirely in accordance with the “feel at home” slogan.
Successful opening
On 21 October 2011 the Lucerne watch Manufacture celebrated the opening of its latest boutique in Asia, with around 150 invited guests including established Tokyo retailers, business partners and media representatives. Following addresses by the CEO of Bucherer Montres S.A., Sascha Moeri, and the Representative Managing Director of Bucherer Japan Ltd., Kozo Masuda, the guests were treated to culinary delicacies provided by the renowned Japanese catering company “Food Creation” under the management of Mr. Ayako Suwa. |
