LADOIRE PRESENTS Mr Ice
The next chapter in the Black Widow collection
First she’ll whisper sweet nothings in your ear. Then she’ll gently kiss your forehead, the waft of her sultry scent rendering you incapable of resisting. Before you know it, she’ll have got you exactly where she wants you… and once sucked in, you’ll never know what’s hit you. There’s no escaping the spell of the Black Widow.
She is that feisty femme fatale whose lethal charms will ensnare her prey in bonds of irresistible desire. She is that mesmerizing temptress whose powers of coercion will cruelly lead her victim to an inescapably sticky end. She is that voluptuous vamp who has lent her name to Ladoire’s Black Widow collection, now enriched with an exciting new chapter. Step forward Mr Ice.
Mr Ice stands out from the crowd – big time – exuding an enigmatic magnetism that will attract no end of admirers. The assertive, virile bodywork coupled with luxuriant, black leather makes for a cool and confident exterior, while the expressive face is so striking, it leaves little doubt that an intricate and complex inner character lurks beneath it.
The Black Widow has in the past proved too hot to handle for those that have dared to enter into her deadly game of cat and mouse. But this Mr Ice is a bad, bad boy – a chillingly cool, calm and collected customer that knows how to play with fire without getting burnt.
With Mr Ice, has the Black Widow finally met her match?
Mr Ice up close
An expressive face full of depth
Mr Ice has a distinctive face that is unlikely to be forgotten in a hurry. The dial architecture, open-worked to reveal the sophisticated movement beneath, is multilayered and delineates three offset zones – hours, minutes and seconds – mounted on an innovative system of ceramic micro ball bearings.
Hours and minutes are indicated by rotating discs on the lower half of the dial, while 20-second intervals are indicated by a small three-handed disk at 3 o'clock. This triumvirate of discs forms the Ladoire signature HMS Planetary complication.
The large, central hand displays a second time zone – adjusted via the black DLC quickset push-button on the case band at 2 o'clock. This feature is of particular benefit to frequent travelers and those with family and friends around the world.
Six of the second-time zones are explicitly indicated between 8 o’clock to 1 o’clock, on indices around the dial, while engraved on the GMT wheel is Ladoire’s signature spider web – or possibly the Black Widow’s calling card to boast that she has gotten exactly what she wanted.
The ensemble of dial features have received black, silvered or fresh white finishes, the latter two reminding us of the cool, steely operator that Mr Ice most definitely is.
Discovering Mr Ice’s intricate and complex inner character
Mr Ice is consummately cool and nonchalantly aloof, but if you manage to get that little bit closer, you will discover the complex interior tantalizingly hinted at by the open-work dial.
Turning Mr Ice over reveals an intriguing and original nexus of blackened bridges which smartly set off the eye-catching ruby jewels. To the top right, the mainspring barrel also bears an iconic Ladoire spider web – another clue left by the Black Widow? – below which is the sleek micro-rotor that is the well-honed muscle of the automatic winding system.
Mr Ice’s strong and virile bodywork
Mr Ice has an assertive presence thanks to the striking case crafted in high-tech Grade 5 titanium. The light weight coupled with superb strength of the corrosion-resistant titanium ensures Mr Ice provides excellent comfort for the wearer, while the natural finish gives a fittingly glacial luster that effortlessly catches the eye. The overall case design cleverly manages to combine ruggedness and finesse in equal measure.
Luxuriant, black leather makes the perfect accessory
Crafted with fine leather workmanship, the muscular strap completing Mr Ice is made from matt-black, full-grain, hand-sewn alligator leather, secured via a bespoke hand-made Ladoire Helvet Manufacture tang buckle.

About Ladoire
Ladoire was founded in 2007 by Lionel Ladoire and his friend/business partner Richard Piras. Ladoire proposes a new way of perceiving time by challenging existing horological codes with a resolutely avant-garde take on haute horlogerie. All movements are designed, developed and assembled by Ladoire in their Geneva atelier. The limited numbers in which Ladoire’s timepieces are crafted ensure their consummate exclusivity.
Lionel Ladoire
Andy Warhol, Jean-Paul Gaultier… and now Lionel Ladoire. All supreme masters of reinvention who dared to challenge tradition, smash taboos and shatter the status quo. Warhol managed to turn every art genre on its head. Gaultier ripped up the rule-book of fashion to create a whole new sartorial philosophy. And now Lionel Ladoire has deconstructed classical watchmaking and recast it in an audacious new light.
Lionel was born into a family boasting four generations of jewelers. From childhood he was fascinated by the intricate world of micro-mechanics and seamlessly made the switch to watchmaking after 20 years of working in the jewelery industry.
With a background creating objets d’art for the great jewelery houses of the Place Vendôme in Paris coupled with his maverick, rock ‘n’ roll attitude, Lionel brings an approach to horology far removed from the staid world of traditional watchmaking.
To describe Lionel as an avant-garde watchmaker is an understatement. His atypical creations, with their cutting-edge complications and mouth-watering aesthetics, push the horological envelope to new boundaries.
Richard Piras
Richard Piras’ business acumen, garnered from two decades in technology financing and innovation management, provides the perfect foil to Lionel Ladoire’s artistic talent.
In his capacity as Managing Director, Richard is in charge of the development of the Ladoire brand and he oversees the management, marketing and financial operations of the company.
Holding a degree in physics and technical engineering from the Lyon Institute of Applied Science, Richard has accumulated more than 20 years’ experience in the management and financing of technological projects.
A passionate student of astronomy and unashamed aesthete, Richard is a man of absolute precision, whose understanding of detail goes hand in hand with a global vision that drives him to explore a wide variety of professional worlds.
