The Rising Star Award Party

Revolution magazine, the ultimate horology specialist and true reference in Asia and beyond, bestowed upon Laurent Ferrier the « Rising Star Award » for the most promising new watch brand. The award was presented on 19 January by Wei Koh, founder and Editor in Chief during a fondue evening at the Cafe du Soleil in Geneva. A truly memorable moment – to be highlighted with a red star ! – in the history of the brand.

A dragon that lies beneath the dial

This unique Galet Secret has strong symbolic value and combines technicity with playfulness. Under its guise as a classic strap watch is hidden a very ingenious mechanism. Developed from the tourbillon double spiral movement, this patented complication allows for two sapphire glasses to rotate 240 degrees downwards, very much like a closing fan, revealing the dial. The dial itself is a marvel of hand-made grand feu enamel, combining subtle colours of beige, green and gold, depicting an imperial dragon, fabled animal in chinese astrology. Unlike any other dragon, Laurent Ferrier was intent to create a unique image, one that could not be found in any books nor any chinese temples. Thus after lenghty research and numerous attempts, the dragon depicted compliments in every respect the unique nature of the Galet Secret.

GALET CLASSIC
TOURBILLON DOUBLE BALANCE SPRING

The Galet Classic Tourbillon Double Balance Spring is equipped with an exclusive Manufacture-made movement developed, assembled and adjusted in the LAURENT FERRIER workshops.

For the first time, the tourbillon device, created by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, is enriched with a double balance spring. The major advantage of this new construction is the fact that it maintains the centre of the balance firmly on its axis, which acts as a complement to the rotation of the tourbillon carriage. Through this mix of positions, the device counteracts the negative effects of gravity on the precision of a movement, thereby guaranteeing the extreme reliability of the regulating system. The Galet Classic is indeed chronometer-certified by the Besançon Observatory.

The hand-wound movement has an 80-hour power reserve and features exceptional hand finishing, including the décor of the tourbillon carriage bridge visible from the back. The case is inspired by pebble-shaped vintage pocket watches. It comes in three gold colours: yellow, white and red. The dial is available in a choice of white grand feu enamel or black onyx versions.
