CHOPARD - Michel Hazanavicius à Hollywood

Le 29-02-2012
de Le petit-fils de L.U. Chopard & Cie SA

The Swiss based jeweller-watchmaker brought luck to Michel Hazanavicius, winner of the Oscar for Best Director of The Artist, making him the tenth Academy Award nominee to win wearing Chopard.

For the ninth consecutive year, the top winners presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences are adorned in jewelry as well as watches created by the prestigious Geneva-based House. This is because, for the very first time at the Oscars, directors have joined actors and actresses in choosing Chopard to bring them luck. Winner of the Best Director Oscar – Michel Hazanavicius- is following in the glamorous footsteps of such luminaries as Colin Firth, Charlize Theron, Hilary Swank, Rachel Weisz, Helen Mirren, Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet, Penélope Cruz and Mo’Nique. Chopard, the jeweler-watchmaker of the cinema world, has a decidedly golden touch.

As always, the stars stride the red carpet offering a spectacular parade of charm and elegance. Clothed in their stunning evening gowns and tuxedoes and sparkling in Chopard jewelry and watches as the flashbulbs pop all around them. Once again, the men may steal the spotlight from the ladies, since they have decided, just like their female colleagues, to wear some of the most remarkable creations from the Geneva-based brand. In an ultimate token of refinement, Chopard watches and cufflinks add a refined touch to their formal evening attire. Chopard creations meet with universal approval, making it the only company to have consecutively adorned 10 – Academy Award winners in the top categories. Could it be that the Swiss watchmaker-jeweler spells luck for Hollywood?

Chopard and film are engaged in a long-running love story studded with stellar events and promising encounters. Admired for its original and refined creations that are able to enhance a woman’s natural beauty or to subtly accentuate a man’s inherent elegance, Chopard is well accustomed to red carpets. As well as the Cannes Film Festival, of which it has been Official Partner for 15 years this year, it is also present at the most prestigious venues on the movie world calendar, including the Césars, BAFTA’s, Golden Globes and Oscars. An ever increasing number of legendary stars and promising young hopefuls, actresses, actors, and now directors too – choose to trust Chopard to make them shine at premiere screenings and official ceremonies.

Whether classical or avant-garde, the choices made by film luminaries reflect their affection for a given company. The ongoing relationship between Chopard and the world of cinema is based on a blend of boldness and loyalty. While the creations from the Genevese watchmaker-jeweler appeal to new stars each year, those who have once shined in Chopard Haute Joaillerie and Haute Horlogerie remain profoundly attached to them.
