LANCASTER HISTORY
It is said that Christiaan Huygens (the great Dutch astronomer who invented the balancing system use dinclocks ) was forced to move in the more hospitable and tolerant Switzerland in the mid of 17° century for religious reasons.
He founded a factory of precision watches there, and his work led to the creation of the most popular boutique in Geneva.
Shortly before his death, the great master called the best of his pupils to him, one Edward Higgins from the city of Lancaster in England, and gave him instructions to carry on with this lucky business.
Higgins thus expanded the watch making business, giving it more of an industrial impulse. Since then, the greatest merchants, bankers, traders and professionals in Europe have worn Lancaster watches.
Almost threehundred years have passed, but the great Higgins tradition has remained untouched and is still a part of the new Lancaster ranges.
