In a small manufacture in Rinteln, close to Hannover (Germany), every watch is individually handcrafted in a several days lasting process. Experts call his limited watches a real „insider tip“ with a steady growing collection - Made in Schaumburg.
Fort de Lippe - A Masterpiece of History
The first model, Fort de Lippe, is dedicated to Count William of Schaumburg-Lippe. As commander-in-chief of the Allied British and Portuguese troops in the so-called ‘Fantastic War’ (Guerra Fantástica) in 1762, he warded off an invasion of Spanish troops, thus preserving Portuguese independence. He established a war and artillery school and reformed the portuguesian army. Modelled after the shining example of fortress Wilhelmstein near Hannover, he gave order to construct the Fort de Nossa Senhora da Graça in Elvas in the style of the French master-builder Vauban. To honour William the king named it „Fort de Lippe“.
The watch series “Fort de Lippe” is limited to 99 pieces each. The 127-gram, 18-carat gold case alone reflects its claim to elegance and the highest workmanship. The 925 sterling silver dial is covered with several layers of enamel by hand. The back of the Fort de Lippe is equally attractive. The sapphire crystal glass enables the exceptional technology of the skeletonised movement crafted by the finest watchmakers to be seen. The attention to detail can equally be seen in the watchstrap: crocodile leather with an engraved folding clasp of 18-carat gold complete the picture and make this watch a ticking masterpiece. The Fort de Lippe gives exclusive buyers with a penchant for the unusual the chance to wear a piece of history on their wrist!
Max Sause - Technique and Poineering Spirit Leading to Win
Following a career in private banking which landed him on the board of a Berlin insurance company, Max Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe decided only after that to truly accelerate – he became a successful racing driver for Mercedes and BMW. During his 15 years of active driving he was nicknamed “Prinz Sause” (“Speedy Prince”) – the family named him “Max Sause” - and truly helped shape the beginnings of motor sports.
He raced with his team during the 1930s in Spa, Le Mans and in the “Mille Miglia” and left his competitors in his tracks to the podium. Both, the driver and his co-driver, needed skill, endurance and highly technical precision to achieve this – merely half of all the teams that started were able to meet these challenges.
Max Sause is the name given to our athletic 18 carat gold chronograph that is limited to 464 watches.
