Amid the stillness of the city, wrapped in a shroud of darkness punctuated by diamond-like sparks from the cityscapes, a mysterious creeping creature appears. Its predatory air and stealthy prowl foreshadow a powerful revelation. The C1 BlackSpider unveils a dramatic mutation with dazzling diamond brilliance adorning its horological arachnid body parts. This potent and exquisitely shimmering transformation captures the fascinating paradox between the distinctive horological design and authentic prowess in the realm of horological mechanics.

The fascinating arthropod appears to be suspended in mid-air, with eight legs firmly embedded in the generous 47 mm-diameter, 13.55 mm deep ultra-light titanium case – while the movement plate, symbolizing its abdomen and also serving as the watch dial, lies at the bottom of the empty space created by the remarkable depth. The watch movement elements aligned down the middle reveal the nerve center of this mesmerizingly disturbing creature. The rhythmical oscillations of the tourbillon mechanism occupy a space of their own, entirely in tune with the gravity-defying nature of this emblematic beast.

The cut-outs admirably highlight Concord’s fundamental construction principles – including its sturdy design, side-screwed protective ring, “ramparts” protecting the anti-reflective sapphire crystal and fortified crown – while accentuating the “camouflage” effect that helps it merge smoothly into its natural metropolitan environment. This is a creature that deserves to be viewed from both sides, and the exhibition case-back reveals the handsomely decorated 19-jewel hand-wound C105 movement, with its sandblasted and polished bridges, steadily beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour.

This dramatic new predator clings firmly to the wrist on a black rubberized alligator strap held by four self-locking screws and a smoothly flowing lug-free attachment construction.

Two new striking C2 Chronograph

Featuring the signature sleek design, sophisticated construction and cutting-edge movement associated with C2 chronographs, the collection is being reinforced with the addition of new models radiating a distinctively sharp look and feel.

Designed to tame short times with unfailing accuracy and a cool-headed approach, C2 chronographs proclaim their strong character through a fascinating combination of angles and curves arranged in harmoniously balanced proportions. The inner bezel ring diverts Concord’s famous protective tabs straddling the bezel in order to use them as hour-markers. The chronograph counters at 6 and 9 o’clock are perfectly counter-balanced by the rotating small seconds disk at 3 o’clock, while the date window appears at 6 o’clock. The finely sandblasted and circular-brushed finishing gives the dial undeniable depth and intensity.

Both of the new introductions are distinguished by a 43 mm polished, brushed and sandblasted case in all-black PVD-coated stainless steel. One of the new interpretations has a black dial with racy red highlights, swept over by diamond-polished rhodium & red hands and protected by a smoked sapphire crystal. It is teamed with a black alligator strap with red stitching, complete with black pvd-treated stainless steel deployment buckle. The other variation is lit up by pink gold hands and accents on the dial and bezel, adding a warm and precious touch to this pleasingly glowing model, complete with a black alligator strap with stitching in pink gold tone.

Concord’s lug-free attachments, in the shape of horizontal tubular attachments embedded into the case, further accentuate the smoothly integrated look and feel of the wristbands. Firmly secured inside the case, it thereby becomes an inseparable and essential part of the latter, thus ensuring an ideal flow, a perfect fit on the wrist, and a unique rendering. The visible screws reinforce the industrial nature of the construction, confirmed by the black triple-blade butterfly clasp. The strongbox-shaped back of the case, which is water-resistant to 100 meters, protects a 37-jewel mechanical automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour.

Concord explores the mystical twin sides of life and human nature through two bold and fascinating executions in white or black diamonds, each reflecting certain strengths. These beautifully contrasting new interpretations of the C2 chronograph feature the brand’s signature sophisticated construction and sleek design, driven by an ultra-reliable automatic movement with ever-useful chronograph functionality.

The natural world presents a wealth of strong and opposing forces, most powerfully revealed in the perpetual cycle from night to day, dusk to dawn. Our inner-most character, as well as the persona we assume in society, our alter-ego, are governed by dual-sided forces. For 2012, Concord introduces a pair of C2 Chronograph Black & White models that explore the yin and yang of life and the mystery of duality.

Black suggests power, authority and timeless style. It is often associated with intuition, elegance, formality and class. Some view it as the color of mystery and solemnity, evoking the depths of the unknown, and nurturing the imagination of a different world. Others point out that black is “achromatic”, neither emitting nor reflecting light. Whatever one’s personal appreciation of this hue, it exercises undeniable attraction in Concord’s 2012 limited-edition timepiece evocatively named the C2 Chronograph BlackFrost. It is set with black diamonds and fitted with a black alligator strap, creating a spectacular contrast with the gleaming steel case and silver dial.

White is a universal symbol of innocence and purity. Its ability to reflect light means it is often regarded as a summer color, although it can also naturally evoke a pristine winter mantle of snow. Its neutrality makes it a popular fashion choice because of its ability to blend in while maintaining a distinct personality. Paradoxically, white suggests extreme coolness and intense heat – or even both, as in a white-hot fire burning beneath ice. In short, the color white epitomizes the contradictions found in both nature as a whole and human nature in particular. The core-line C2 Chronograph all-white version features white diamonds framing a pure silver dial. Fitted with a white alligator strap, it radiates an alluring aura of immaculate elegance.
