A. Lange & Söhne wins at reader’s award of UHREN MAGAZIN and Focus

This year's vote for the “Golden Balance 2013” has resulted in two prizes for A. Lange & Söhne: In the top category “watches priced over 25,000 Euro”, the winner was the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR, which has been launched only last year. Impressive 21.5 per cent of all participants have voted for the Lange timepiece. This was the highest number of votes given to one model in the whole competition.

The SAXONIA THIN received the second prize in the category “watches priced up to 25,000 Euro”. The two awards were accepted by Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid at a gala evening event in Munich’s BMW museum on 14th March 2013.

Since 1998, the readers of the German watch journal „UHREN MAGAZIN“, the news magazine FOCUS and the users of “Focus-Online” vote for their favourites. In a two-stage procedure, more than 25.000 participants had to choose between 426 mechanical watches. To date, timepieces of A. Lange & Söhne have been awarded 14 times with a first prize and made it 23 times into the top three in this competition.


About A. Lange & Söhne
When Ferdinand A. Lange, a Dresden watchmaker, established his watch manufactory in 1845, he laid the cornerstone of Saxony’s precision watchmaking. His precious pocket watches remain highly coveted among collectors all over the world. The company was expropriated after World War II, and the name A. Lange & Söhne nearly fell into oblivion. In 1990, Ferdinand A. Lange’s great-grandson Walter Lange had the courage to relaunch the brand. Today, Lange crafts only a few thousand wristwatches in gold or platinum per year. They are endowed exclusively with proprietary movements that are lavishly decorated and assembled by hand. In a period of little more than 20 years, A. Lange & Söhne developed over 40 manufacture calibres and secured a top-tier position among the world’s finest watch brands. Its greatest successes include innovative time-keeping instruments such as the LANGE 1 with the first outsize date in a series produced wristwatch as well as the LANGE ZEITWERK with its supremely legible, precisely jumping numerals. Meanwhile, both models have become icons of a brand rich in tradition.
