The name of the famous French actor and film director, Gérard Depardieu, all hearsay because of obtaining his Russian citizenship, is on everyone’s lips. Everybody knows about his passion – wine and winemaking. He is also a big watch enthusiast and, furthermore, one of Pascal Berclaz’ – Quinting’s CEO - closest friend. For 8 years they were together the only two people constituting Quinting’s Board of Directors. Since then they both maintained a strong friendship once again illustrated at the early days of March 2013 in Azerbaijan.

Depardieu and Pascal Berclaz: fighting for the same values
As everyone may know, Gérard Depardieu has encountered some differences of opinion with the French economic system. First misunderstood by his compatriots, many of them now realize that he is a man of convictions who preferred to leave his own country to defend his ideas. For the same reasons he had to leave Quinting’s Board of Directors but continue to share the daily life of the Swiss Manufacture. Initially bound together through a common admiration for Saint Augustin, him and Pascal Berclaz are part of a strong group of friends and together they fight for the same values: remain true to their ideas an way of thinking.

High Ring of Friends
Quinting and Gérard Depardieu both have strong connections with Russia, starting with Vladimir Putin who never hesitated to recommend Quinting watches in the Medias and recently welcomed Gérard in his country. After receiving his Russian passport, the French actor went to Zurich for the 2013 Ballon d’Or final where Argentina’s Lionel Messi collected a record-breaking fourth consecutive title of best player in the world. It was also an opportunity for the three friends, Sepp Blatter, Gérard Depardieu and Pascal Berclaz to stand at the same time on the same land, which has not happened for a while for the three friends and businesspersons.

New point of sell opening with Gérard: Baku
After a few time spent on personnal projects, as he knew that Quinting will open a new point of sales in the capital of the Azerbaijan – Baku, Gérard Depardieu asked to take part of the ceremony as Quinting’s exclusive seller, one of the roles he loves to incarnate. The warm and friendly meeting first took place at the Four Seasons hotel and continued to the inauguration of Quinting watches to a new point of sales in Baku. The French actor said he saw a great potential of the brand Quinting in the future. With enthusiasm, he told the guests about his favorite watch – The Dove of Geneva.

The Dove of Geneva - Peace Watchmaking
Quinting throws a challenge to wars and terrorism by creating the Dove of Geneva. A watch symbolizing that the only thing anyone should fight for is peace and democracy’s job is to spread the message of peace around the world and unite peace states. Combining high quality workmanship and peacemaking initiative, Quinting wants to do its bit to promote peace around the world beginning with the man who wears Quinting for peace.

The Dove of Geneva - The Watch of Presidents
Clients of Quinting's Dove of Geneva are amongst others Bill Clinton, Kofi Annan, Vladimir Poutin, Sepp Blatter, and the Swiss Government. The watch is made of metalized sapphires with an anti-reflection treatment. The case and the transparent sapphire movement are engraved with an individual series number. Only one chronograph per country belonging to the United Nations has been created for this limited edition. On the side of each case is an engraving with the number of a country corresponding to the United Nations list.

About Quinting
The Quinting watches are the only one 100% transparent watches impossible to copy because of the complexity of the unique patented sapphire movement. The manufacture was founded in 2000 in Geneva by five engineers– three watchmakers, one automotive engineer, and one electromechanical research engineer, Pascal Berclaz, current President of Quinting. They decided to attempt to achieve the impossible: create a completely transparent chronograph. 7 years of research and 15 million dollars of investment were necessary to take on the challenge. This feat was immediately awarded by the prestigious “Prix Officiel de la Revue des Montres.” Quinting’s movement is composed of a superposition of sapphire discs, stationary and mobile, the distance between each sapphire measures 0,08 to 0,1 mm.

About Gérard Depardieu
Gérard Xavier Marcel Depardieu born was born in 1948 in Châteauroux. He is a French actor, film-maker, businessman and vineyard owner. He has twice won the César Award for Best Actor as well as the Golden Globe award for Best Actor in Green Card. After he garnered huge critical acclaim for the title role in Cyrano de Bergerac, which landed him a nomination for an Academy Award, Depardieu acted in many big budget Hollywood movies. He is a Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur, Chevalier of the Ordre national du Mérite. He was granted Russian citizenship on 3 January 2013, by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has played in such legendary films as " Asterix & Obelix vs Caesar", "Danton," "Vatel," "Vidocq", "Napoleon", "Cyrano de Bergerac", " Buffet Froid".
