JOËL A. GRANDJEAN, NEW EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Watchonista becomes a full-fledged media outlet with the addition to its team of Joël A. Grandjean, founder of press & writing agency TàG Press +41. Named editor-in-chief as of April 15th 2013, this independent horological journalist, who is well-known in the watch-making milieu and with an active online presence, has been entrusted with the mission of creating and organizing original content.
Watchonista’s connections within the international horology blogosphere enable it to practice especially timely distribution, sometimes even in print, a medium that regularly calls upon the team. The latter collaborates with several renowned watch making magazines. The SME from Pully thus already creates a lot of content – texts, feature stories, photos and videos, databases. Its information streams are joined by those of partner brands and media as well as members of the online community.
Alexander Friedman and Marco Gabella, founding partners: It’s only natural for our know-how and tools to serve the production and sharing of original content. Ineluctably, the added value from this readily available and orchestrated independent information falls within our development strategy. Owing to a continuous growth of our membership, of our actor partners in the field on the one hand and of the buying collectors on the other, we have wished to create a true horology network.
Joël A. Grandjean: The opportunities with a participative media such as Watchonista are exhilarating, as much relying on existing data, the richness of which deserves to be intelligently highlighted, as on the creation of original content and novel concepts. Internet never forgets: yesterday’s article can suddenly turn into today’s breaking news. Tomorrow will not see a stubborn fight between print and web, but a reassigning of roles, bearing in mind that information now plays out in participative mode. The attunement of both printed and electronic media is above all a godsend for information and the reader.
PARTNERS, 7 NEW BRANDS
Notwithstanding the increase in private members, collectors, aficionados, buyers, the enthusiasts and the intrigued, a growing number of brands and media are placing their trust in Watchonista’s team. Thus, during March and April of 2013, 7 new members have joined our horological brand partners. This brings their total to 27 to date.
While each having their complementary and distinctive positioning, all these brands are now member partners:
New adherents: Julien Coudray 1518, Romain Gautltier, Concord (MGI Luxury Group), Piaget (Groupe Richemont) – De Bethune, Longines (Swatch Group), DeLaneau.
