Responding to the spectacular growth of Asian markets, the Exhibitor Committee of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is delighted to announce WATCHES&WONDERS, a unique show of the creations and traditions of fine watchmaking, to be held on September 25th through 28th, 2013, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
Organized by 13 Fine Maisons - brands who feature among the elite of fine watchmakers - WATCHES&WONDERS is a first of its kind event to be held in Asia.
This exclusive exhibit will display the very latest creations in the world of Haute Horlogerie within the context of their own rich and fascinating culture. It aims to recognize and serve the thousands of collectors in the region who are passionate about the intricate mechanisms and exquisite craftsmanship of rare timepieces.
In addition to presenting their newest collections, the exhibiting Maisons will share their individual histories and specific values, unveiling the human elements largely unseen but always crucial to the creation of fine timepieces. They will also demonstrate the innovation, inspiration and dedication to excellence that sets them apart. In an environment of luxurious simplicity, the event will also provide the space and opportunity for the Maisons and their esteemed clientele to spend time together exchanging ideas about the beautiful complexity of keeping time.
“We at Audemars Piguet are very excited to participate in the first edition of WATCHES&WONDERS,” comments
François-Henry Bennahmias, CEO of Audemars Piguet. “It will help us forge closer relationships to the Asian market and will bring to life the exciting story of Audemars Piguet’s watchmaking origins and artistry which spans more than 130 years in the heart of the Vallée de Joux, Le Brassus in Switzerland. And we hope the event will mark the beginning of a new tradition.”
A special highlight of WATCHES&WONDERS will be an area set aside for the many professions and artisans that contribute their rich variety of savoir faire and talent to the field of Fine Watchmaking. Some 40 different specialties are involved in the making of a fine watch and the event will showcase a number of highly skilled professionals allowing them to demonstrate their know-how and expertise. “At Richard Mille, we are thrilled to have a chance to explain our cutting edge approach and innovations in applications, use and design related to our products,” says Richard Mille, founder and CEO of his namesake brand.
Another unique element of the event will be The Mastery of Time, a stunning exhibit tracing the history of timekeeping through time. From its origins in the heavens through its present on firm ground, the exhibit will let the visitor imagine travelling from sundial to wristwatch, with all of the adventure and fascination that marks this impressive journey.
A platform of culture and learning, WATCHES&WONDERS will welcome the Fine Maisons’ special guests, journalists and retailers, all valued ambassadors of Fine Watchmaking in Asia. “This event,” says Bernard Fornas, Co-CEO of Richemont “is an invitation to celebrate a renewed and embellished tie linking Europe to Asia: the very particular passion of time.”
