CHARRIOL LOOKS FORWARD TO A NEW DECADE AND UNVEILS BASEL COLLECTIONS

With a 30th anniversary marked by strong growth and plaudits for craftsmanship and design, Charriol greets Baselworld still riding the crest of this wave.

The 2013 birthday year saw a succession of new boutique openings and rapid expansion in Asia, the Americas, Middle East and across Europe. The Maison’s continued growth is significant given the family status of this Swiss watchmaker-jeweller that continues to attract new audiences in a sector dominated by group-owned brands.

Distinctive designs lie at the heart of the Maison's appeal, two of which were commended through nominations for the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genčve (GPHG) and “Watch of the Year” by Montres Passion magazine. These included the COLVMBVS™ Grande Date for men, and the COLVMBVS™ Lady Diamond timepiece, with this women’s watch touring the world as part of the GPHG exhibition. These nominations affirm Charriol’s continued technical flair, witnessed in a growing number of mechanical watches now being incorporated into the men’s and women’s flagship collections.

At Baselworld 2014, Charriol unveils six timepiece collections and eight jewellery lines, the latter designed by Creative Director Coralie Charriol-Paul.

Among the watch designs are three timepieces just for women, which put femininity centre stage. The customisable ST-TROPEZ™ ‘Style’ celebrates women’s empowerment through a series of meaningful clips and bracelets. ST-TROPEZ™ ‘Secrets’ reflects the fun and glitz of the French resort and contains a hidden surprise. For younger customers, AEL, named after the Celtic word for ‘angel’, is released in two new variants.

Men and women benefit from Charriol’s unwavering design and technical skills with ALEXANDER C, a classic timepiece with quintessential Charriol hallmarks and stylish variations around the Maison’s iconic cable motif.

Brand new to the Maison is the rectangular COLVMBVS™ Cintré Convex for men and women, which shows off a cinched waist and elegant lines reminiscent of the Art Deco era. A sophisticated automatic version for men is available, displaying a honeycomb dial with a skeletonised spoked wheel decoration.

We also welcome the new COLVMBVS™ Grande Date GMT, which builds on the success of the model launched last year. Formerly only available in a limited series of just 300 pieces, this intricate rounded timepiece with strong nautical detailing is now released in several versions with various dials, including a model in pink gold PVD. These handcrafted men’s watches are distinguished by an automatic movement which powers the date via a system of double discs, and a second time-zone.

In the jewellery category, love reigns supreme as ‘100 Ways to Love’, ‘Just Once’, ‘Cherie Amour’ and ‘Heart2Heart’ celebrate romance in a symphony of a pretty hearts and precious stones. A baroque spirit infuses ‘Pearls’, a new collection that marries renaissance-style opalescent gems with contemporary braided cables. ‘Forever Young’ takes us firmly back into the present, echoing fashion’s current love affair with all things urban, seen in the studded embellishment. ‘Braided’ and ‘Celtic’ jewellery celebrate Charriol’s enduring cable motif, offering a modern take on the artistry of ancient Celtic traditions.

As it embraces the maturity of a fourth decade, Charriol continues to offer fresh designs founded on expert craftsmanship and a creativity informed by strong historical roots. The Charriol philosophy, ‘l’art de Vive la Difference’, or the ‘art of living differently’ remains the touchstone for the brand and all its fans.

Welcome to my world!

With the vision of an alchemist, I created the CHARRIOL style from a purposeful blend of classicism and modernity, whilst striving for an appealing balance of understatement and exuberance.

I appreciate art in many forms and have learnt that, through the ages, it is not the most costly things that grow more beautiful in time, rather those that are carefully, lovingly made – from a travel-worn leather valise to a vintage fragrance flacon. It is in this same spirit that our products are created.

This also inspires our attention to quality, why we create CHARRIOL timepieces in Switzerland, and jewellery and leather goods in Europe – the homes of craftsmanship, tradition and technique - whilst never losing sight of functionality.

Over the years, our Maison has grown organically, as our offer expands in response to customer needs. CHARRIOL now encompasses a broad range of luxury products including timepieces, jewellery, leather goods, writing instruments, travelware, eyewear, and fragrances, to bring style to all areas of life.
