ST-LOUIS 1919 - TIMEPIECE FOR GENTS
On May 19, 1919 New York based hotelier, Raymond Orteig, extended a challenge and $25,000 prize purse to the first pilot to fly non-stop between Paris and New York. Numerous notable and well financed pilots attempted the challenge. It wasn’t until an unknown US Air Mail pilot entered the race, largely self-financed from his own savings and meger wages, that history was made. Charles Lind- bergh completed the 5,800km venture solo and inspired a new era in aviation and exploration.

On July 4, 1914 a hunble and unknown machinist, Christian Lautenschlager, hais from Germany and enters the last French Grand Prix before World War I. A crowd of over 300,000 assembled in Lyon to cheer on the contenders - vertitable Grand Prix royalty toe the line with Christian in the shadows as an almost laughable threat. Professionals, Sailer and Boillot go head to head for the duration of the race until fortunes turn and the unknown machinist makes history. The Grand Prix 1914 celebrates the spirit and daring of Christian-to challenge and overcome the odds.
